Heathrow Terminal 4 Station – Information for Travellers

Overview

Heathrow Terminal 4 station serves Terminal 4 of Heathrow Airport, located to the south of the airport's main campus and accessed via a dedicated spur of the Piccadilly line. The station opened in 1986 alongside the terminal itself and is the only Heathrow Underground station that is not served by the Elizabeth line, which exclusively serves Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 and Terminal 5.

The station is situated directly beneath the terminal, offering seamless covered access to the check-in and arrivals halls. Terminal 4 primarily handles SkyTeam alliance airlines including Air France, KLM, Delta, and Korean Air, as well as a number of other international carriers. It is a quieter terminal than T2&3, with a more relaxed atmosphere.

Passengers requiring the Elizabeth line should travel to Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 station by tube, or use the free inter-terminal bus service. Allow adequate time if connecting between T4 and other terminals.

⚑ Traveller Tip — Heathrow Line Splits

It is recommended to change trains at a Central London station if you need to ensure you are on the correct branch for your destination. Both the Elizabeth line and the Piccadilly line split — some trains terminate at Terminal 5 and others at Terminal 4. However, all trains pass through Terminals 2 & 3 before heading to their final destination (either 4 or 5). Changing trains early in Central London is much easier, as it allows you to switch on the same platform without walking far or lifting heavy luggage. For a faster service, the Heathrow Express runs non-stop from Paddington station with a journey time of around 15 minutes.

Lines and Services
